Error
Wrong element in repetition history Found: Item #1,200: What is the scope of LSTM scaled range? Expected: Item #6,124: Why is the memory span denoted as short?
Remedy
- Execute File : Repair collection (select Verify rep. history)
- send the report to bug (year) @ supermemo.org for further diagnostics
Meaning
Occurs at verification of repetition history. Indicates corrupt repetition history for the element marked as Expected.
Repetition history is a linked list. If the link data is corrupted, lists can be concatenated.
Occurrence
The error can occur in multiple contexts. Repetition history is verified in nearly all cases when it is about to be used in learning or other important operations. The three main contexts:
- Upgrading from SuperMemo 16 to SuperMemo 17 or later (the wording of the message is slightly different)
- Generating repetition history folders (the wording of the message is slightly different)
- Correcting repetition history before use (the wording as in this post)
Severity
Severity depends on the number of cases experienced. For a single element affected, deleting history solves the problem. For many elements, there might be a deeper underlying problem of data corruption (e.g. disk errors, faulty media, lost files, malware, software crash, etc.).
