Subject: problem with picture quality

Question:

Most of Wikipedia pictures download in good quality. However, some are very ugly. Very often, I discover the problem only when I go to a page in SuperMemo where I see the picture in larger size in more detail. How can I fix it in such a way that my picture gets updated in the whole collection?

Answer:

You can solve your problem with Global paste. When you paste the new picture over an existing picture, you will be asked if you want the change to be Local or Global. Local paste is what you know from older SuperMemos or other applications. Global paste replaces the old picture with the new picture while retaining its references and the use in all elements. In other words, you paste in one place, and the picture gets updated in the entire collection (globally).

This video shows how to use Global paste in similar situations. Most of poor quality pictures at Wikipedia are just thumbs that have not been decoded by SuperMemo. Most often, this is because SuperMemo cannot handle SVG files and uses the original thumb in their place. Global paste is cheap and solves this problem entirely.
