No article paste
CUSTOMER: I'm trying to import using cntrl alt n... when in edit mode while reading an article, if i press this key combo nothing happens?
HELP: this could be due to a locked clipboard (usually a transcient problem) or a problem with IE6 (incomplete install, virus, interfering patches or so)
CUSTOMER: It's probably not a locked clipboard because I've had the problem for over 2 months now. Also, today I was able to move my entire SM application & systems directories to a new (built one month ago) windows XP machine. (my regular machine is a win2k) and the same issue showed up there.
Alt-Ctl-N does create a new topic with an HTML component but the text in the clipboard does not get copied to the HTML component.
So I'm pretty sure the problem is not 1. any registry corruption 2. locked clipboard
It could be an internet explorer problem.
CUSTOMER:
I FOUND THE SOLUTION.
I have my Internet Explorer set to HIGH security. (I ALWAYS have so I don't know why I was EVER able to use Alt-Ctl-N with SM)
I played around with the settings and the important setting is tools -->options -->Security Tab --->Internet -->Custom -->choose high, press reset --->scroll WAY DOWN, 3rd item from bottom --->this is the Allow paste operations via script --->Enable (I have it on prompt) ---> press OK (NOT RESET) ---> "are you sure?" box comes up, press Yes ---> press OK again
