Question:

I bought SuperMemo 16 and also have SuperMemo UX.

UX's interface is better than 16's so I'm planning to use only UX if the UX algorithm is as good as 16.

This is my question: Is the SuperMemo UX algorithm as good as SuperMemo 16's or should I use only 16 for having a lighter workload?

Answer:

From the beginner's point of view, both algorithms are equally good.

However, what's more important, the SuperMemo UX line is not going to be further developed in the future (unlike SuperMemo 16, which was improved upon by SuperMemo 17; the Windows line has been in continual development since 1995; almost quarter of a century). SuperMemo for Windows is also better equipped for self-directed learning (e.g. the entire toolkit related to incremental learning). So if you are serious about your learning for years to come, SuperMemo for Windows, despite its perceived inadequacies, is a much better bet.
