I get the following errors:

• Cannot verify registry member status at position 6: I/O error 103
• Error scanning registry redirections: I/O error 103
• Error accessing file: I/O error 103

Answer

I/O error 103 indicates problem with reading SuperMemo files (in this case a SuperMemo registry files).

Examples of errors that can be generated are countless. This is because SuperMemo cannot function without the ability to access its files.

• Error viewing KNO file data
• Error reading from a text file
• Error reading file (e.g. HTML files)
• Error scanning registry redirections
• Cannot remove member user 25234 from position 35403
• Cannot read data for element #62
• Cannot open registry files
• Error accessing file

The most frequent reasons for this problem:

• indexing services (e.g. MSN Desktop) accessing and locking files
• anti-virus software locking the files used by SuperMemo during virus scans
• missing read/write priviledges (e.g. in Vista you may need to set Properties of the shortcut to Run as Administrator)
