How to add to outstanding?
Subject: Add to outstanding
Question:
I imported 20 items into Supermemo and created a new concept/branch. How do I add all the items to outstanding? I tried all of the following:
- Highlight branch in Contents window, right-click, Process Branch, Learning, Add to outstanding
- Highlight branch in Contents window, right-click, Process Branch, Learning, Add all to outstanding
- Open branch and highlight the 20 children, right-click, Process Branch, Learning, Add to outstanding
- Open branch and highlight the 20 children, right-click, Process Branch, Learning, Add all to outstanding
After each of the above steps, I clicked on "Learn" on the branch in the contents window and it states nothing more to learn.
Also, what is the difference between "add to outstanding" and "add all to outstanding"
After doing each of the above 4, it also brings up the strange message "every which element?" What does it mean and what response should be given?
Also, on this page, it states "The repetition date of the elements is not modified." Does this mean that the grading history is not saved, and this only functions for a review purpose and not learning? I have not learned these items, so how to actually make them outstanding and not just in appearance?
Answer:
- Highlight branch in Contents window, right-click, Process Branch, Learning, Add all to outstanding should work unless the elements are dismissed
- Add all to outstanding violates the adherence to the spacing effect rules: it adds all elements even if they have already been reviewed on that day (with that option, you can cram the same branch all day, e.g. before an exam)
- every which element tells you the ratio between original elements of the outstanding queue and the newly inserted elements
- The repetition date of the elements is not modified by Add to outstanding, however, it is modified if the element is subject to repetition as a result of Add to outstanding
