Subject: out-of-date Wikipedia articles

Question:

I am obsessed with incremental reading and Wikipedia. There is one thing that drives me mad. I learn some things from Wikipedia and soon they turn out out-of-date. What is your best way to solve this problem? How can I replace or update stuff in my collection? I hate to do the same thing twice. Is there a good way around?

Answer:

To mark older versions as out-of-date, use Deprecate (e.g. in Commander).

To prevent importing new versions of articles, use Sift in imports (or see DUPLICATE prefix)(e.g. use Ctrl+Shift+W).

To review again articles for import, see this video.

The video explains, how to review in SuperMemo articles you have just found (again) on the web (without duplicating work). The operations you need are:

  • Browse duplicates in Web Import (to browser articles that are duplicates of articles displayed in Internet Explorer)
  • List sources in the browser (to go to source articles of the displayed extracts/items)
  • Child:Descendants in the browser (to display all extracts/clozes derived from the source articles)
