Question:

I watched this video about incremental reading. I simply can't see how is this different from editing on cloze functions with Anki? What justifies the price of SuperMemo?

Answer:

  • the video presents a strategy, not a technology. It shows a rich use of extract and cloze deletion in a specific context (World War 2). For that reason, it does not show a fraction of advantages of incremental reading. Some of the advantages are hard to illustrate in a screen capture video (e.g. comprehension, darwinism, dendritic progress, coherence, lifetime impact, etc.)
  • The pricing of SuperMemo is aimed at sustainability. You can easily use incremental reading with SuperMemo Freeware. Newer version offer bonus advantages for an advanced user
