If an imported web page includes an input/edit box with an input focus (e.g. as in www.Google.com), it may import as an empty with Edit : Import Web Pages : Local pages

Workaround 1

  1. click anywhere on the problematic page to take focus away from the input box

Workaround 2

Newer SuperMemos

  1. (before import) select the text that is to be imported from the page in the browser

Older SuperMemos

  1. select the text that is to be imported from the page in the browser
  2. press Ctrl+C
  3. press Ctrl+Alt+N in SuperMemo

followup question

What if we have a bunch of those webpages and we want to import them in mass? there are many websites, blogs and technology sites that add a simple search box to their websites. Not being able to import pages in mass will seriously complicate the task, not to mention spending more time in importing such pages.

answer

If you have a great deal of pages to process, you may better import them as links. If you import a lot, you will often never have time to process. If you need searchability, you could select texts that need to be imported (before import).

side note

You may hear someone say I do not have time to select texts, I need all those pages imported fast. As selecting takes a fraction of time needed for reading, this will often result in importing texts that will never be read. If a focus causes an incomplete import (esp. in older SuperMemos), you get get those pages back by following their links in references (assuming you will encounter the page in learning, which often is not the case in massive imports). In other words, if you import more than 5-10 pages in one go, consider using link imports. In the long run you may discover that this prevents the collection for bulking up without contributing to actual learning. If the texts are very important, you can always assign a high priority and import upon reading.
