Advanced English has no sounds

Question:

Hi, I installed Advanced English, and the multimedia files, but SuperMemo does not load images and sound, is this normal?

Answer:

You could check the following:

  • did you get download instructions in response to your order? (the original download makes only a part of the system, and instructions details may end up in your spam folder)
  • did you unzip the downloaded multimedia archive (elements.zip)(sounds and images)? Can you see individual files on the disk?
  • did you set Secondary Storage in Advanced English in SuperMemo in Options? If you keep multimedia file separate from your collection, you need to change that setting to point to a new location (e.g. d:\AdvEng\elements if this is where your files reside)
  • does the Secondary Storage point to the correct folder with the unzipped files?
  • in your image or sound registry (e.g. Search : Sounds), do you see paths to files at the bottom (normal window color) or is this area red (indicating files missing). You can send a picture for further help if you are still not sure how to proceed
